Who we are

Pickering Technologies Ltd (trading as PickTech) is a British software consultancy. For anything covered by this policy, we are the data controller.

You can reach us through the contact form. Our full registered details are on the company details page.

The information we collect

We only collect what we genuinely need:

  • Information you send us. When you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you choose to include in your message.
  • Account information. If you create an account, we store your name, email address, a securely hashed password, and any two-factor authentication settings you enable.
  • Technical information. Our hosting keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use these to keep the site secure and reliable.

What we do not collect

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 receives controlled events about pages, themes, enquiries and interactive feature use. This helps us understand which experiences lead to commercial contact. We do not send contact-form values, source code, terminal commands, user filenames, compositions or guestbook messages. Advertising features and Google signals are disabled.

How we use your information

We use the information above to respond to your enquiries, to provide and secure any account you hold, to keep the site working reliably, and to meet our legal obligations.

Our lawful bases are our legitimate interest in running the business and keeping the site secure, the performance of a contract where we are working with you, your consent where you have given it, and compliance with the law where it applies.

Cookies

Essential cookies keep the site working. Optional Google Analytics cookies are used only after you allow analytics. You can decline or withdraw consent through Analytics preferences in the footer. Declining does not restrict access to the site or PICK/OS.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run the business, such as our hosting and email providers, and only so far as they need it to provide their service. These providers are bound by contract to protect your data.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry emails for as long as we need them to deal with your request and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, then we delete them. We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Where your data is processed

We aim to keep personal data within the UK or European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside these areas, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, use the contact form.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date it was last reviewed is shown at the top of the page.
